Film Classification/How the BBFC (British board of film classification) Classifies a 15

This film is suitable for people that are aged 15+




ThemeEverything recorded within the film musty be suitable for a 15 year old person to watch.


Language


There will be frequent cuss words allowed such as (eg 'fuck'). But the strongest terms (eg 'cunt') will be acceptable only where justified by the context. Continued aggressive use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable


.Nudity


Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.




Sex


Sexual behaver could be portrayed as long it is not used to a strong extent. however it can be used if it educational


Violence


Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. Scenes of sexual violence must be discreet and brief.


Imitable techniques


Dangerous techniques (eg combat, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on imitable detail. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.


Horror


Strong threat and menace are permitted. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.


Drugs


Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse.

Target Audience

Gangster/Crime films are usually targeted towards a stereotypical  group of teenage kids, Aged between 15-19. Even though this category is rather it attracts a large scale of people, and does extremely well entertaining people. Reasons for this is that gangster/crime films contain a lot of mystery and drama. They also include a certain amount of action and thriller which attracts a larger audience, making the film suitable for many people.

Script and dialogue

Kumar is a student from India who is living on his own. The scene takes place on a day when Kumar finds himself on the floor being attacked by two local chav who are called Mustafa and Basil. Audience not knowing why this has happened is taken into a flashback. In the next scene,  Mustafa and Basil are at their house when they receive a phone call from 'Boss'. Kumar is now texting his friend Peter asking if he has college tomorrow. When Peter receives his text from Kumar, he is on the phone to someone. This ends the scene. 

As per planning, there would be no dialogues in the first scene.
Mustafa: We so got that guy!
Basil: Which one?

Boss calls...

Boss: I need you to right here, right now

Mustafa: Okay.
Kumar texts his friend Peter...
Peter to the person he is on phone with: Hold up!

The Universal Children rating is generally suitable for all as it contains no violation or any sexual scenes.
There may be some inappropriate scenes for children who are highly sensitive or emotional.

The Parental Guidance (PG) film rating may contain a few scenes which could be inappropriate for young children as it could cause anxiety after watching daunting scenes but is generally suitable for viewing by everyone. It contains minor imitable behaviour and violence.

 

12 rating are for people who are 12 and over. An adult must take responsibility for allowing anyone under 12 to view or rent or buy  a '12' rated video. It contains minor elements of discrimination, imitable behaviour, horror, language and violence.
15 rated video or films are only suitable for people who are 15 and over. It contains minor elements of discrimination and moderate views of drugs, horror, imitable behaviour, language, nudity, sex theme and violence.

18 rated film and videos are only suitable for those over 18. No one younger than 18 must buy or view any videos that are '18' rated. It contains high/strong use of discrimination, drugs, horror, imitable behaviour, language, nudity, sex theme and violence.

What should we achieve in the opening sequence?

What should we achieve in the opening sequence?

In the first 2 minutes of the film that we are producing, it should be able to achieve:
  • Titles and credits
  • Introduction of characters, time and location
  • Audience  should be able to recognize of theme and signify the genre
  • To engage and captivate the audience
  • Director/actors should satisfy the expectation of audience of the generic conventions
  • Iconography throughout the film
  • Establishment of a sound track setting the mood along with a unique sound created for that film and that is recognisable as that film (theme music)

The kids friend: Not A very trustworthy guy, however very friendly but looks may be deceiving.
